Welcome to the WorldWide Martial Arts Festival. Though it is year one of this event, many veterans of the multiple disciplined events of the past 10 years has joined together again for an exciting, high level competition with family written all over the event.

This will be a Promoters Championship Qualifier in Karate. Returning is Director of Japanese Okinawa Arts Gene Tibon and Coordinator Bernard Dougherty, as well as Coordinator for Judo Michael Szrejter. Running all of Grappling is Magnus Virgin. For Tae kwon do is Robert Caullett and Bill Ferkile. We also welcome Director Rick Hartman of MAC Tour USA . Also returning is GM Mark Shuey of Cane Masters. After a few years absents we are pleased that Kyoshi Anthony Marquez for the Specially Challenged is returning.

We are pleased to have added Drew Serrano and Ralph Bergamo for Breaking, the Masters Hall of Fame is hosting an east coast ceremony and we are a Qualifier for the Legend of LIONMAN.  We also have a new Coordinator in Chinese Martial Arts, Paul Knight, coordinating Continuous Sparring is Roger Krahl and for Polynesian Arts is Professor Manny Reyes Sr.

Out of fairness, necessity and a requirement of the event's Director; Open Karate must be free of affiliation. Therefore we have a coalition of Promoters overseeing this discipline.

It is wonderful to have such a great group that will continue our vision: "Each discipline is coordinated by a knowledgeable authority in their respective discipline.  This translates into a fair and accurate interpretation of your performance."

We tried to assist where we could in making this a financially sound decision. We passed our room rate to you; $84 plus $15 resort fee for the first 250 room nights or until September 22nd. We are continuing to work on other ways to help make this event a positive friends and family journey.

We have planned many exciting events in addition to the competition. We are hosting workshops, seminars, a wonderful showcase as well as activities for the siblings and friends that are not competing. You can purchase specially-priced theme park tickets for WALT DISNEY WORLD® Resort, Universal Orlando® Resort and SeaWorld® Orlando.

The Legend of LIONMAN and the Seven Kurodos will be in attendance hosting activities. Masters Hall of Fame will be hosting an induction ceremony. For school owners; there are workshops, seminars and special classes.

The showcase promises to be exciting and unique as it is scheduled to be hosted under the glass atrium.

We will continue to work diligently to bring you the an exciting, entertaining and competitive event that we can bring.

As Walt Disney said about Florida, "It can hold all the ideas and dreams that Disney can imagine." We say "the Gaylord Palms Resort and Convention Center can hold all the ideas and dreams that we can imagine."

Thank you and look forward to seeing you there

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

October 7, 2009

Fundraiser TO Benefit challenged martial artists

Possibilities Unlimited International
announces its 6th Annual Tea and Luncheon
scheduled for Saturday, October 17, 2009 in Glendora.

Booster Club members and guests will be offered a lite luncheon served with desserts and fine teas. Entertainment, door prizes, raffles and silent auctions will provide further enjoyment and excitement for the day.

PUI has a new sponsor, ASA Products, of nearby City of Industry!

CEO Melody Hsieh has generously donated one of her company’s Tri Ton* beach cruisers to our fundraising efforts and she will be present to congratulate the winner!

Those attending will also have the opportunity to meet PUI’s special guest, martial artist Shihan Archie Liebe, who is an educator for the University of West Indies and Olympic coach from Trinidad, Central America.

CEO, Anthony Marquez, will speak about PUI’s upcoming opportunity to “Make a Difference in the World” After his recent trip to Trinidad to speak with officials there, Marquez realized the exceptional opportunity for PUI to challenge the unmet possibilities for disabled and challenged individuals that exist in that part of the world.

Guests will hear more about plans in the works and PUI’s opportunity to influence and elevate possibilities for individuals who are living with even greater challenges in Central America. Marquez estimates that attitudes towards disabilities, and therefore opportunities for those individuals, lag 60 years behind the US.

Funds raised at this event will support the organization’s goals of…

§  Education of the public regarding achievements of differently-abled

§  Raising the visibility of individuals afflicted with affective, intellectual and/or physical challenge and their accomplishments.

PUI athletes dare to learn, practice and publically compete, thereby stressing their Abilities, as opposed to being held back by ignorance of their respective challenges and presumed inabilities.

PUI team members participate year around in competitions and demonstrations of their skills. Earlier this month, team members participated in demonstrations at the all-day DisAbility Sports Festival held at CSU San Bernardino.
Over the last few years, PUI members have competed or held demonstrations in Orlando, FL; Columbus, OH; Honolulu, HI; Las Vegas, NV and in various locations across California.

Community members are encouraged to attend and support this worthwhile endeavor. Those who cannot attend, yet may still wish to contribute can do so via the organization’s website, www.puionline.org. Via the [Donate] button.
