WELCOME

Established in 2003, Possibilities Unlimited International is a non-profit, 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization. Its members raise money and accept donations on behalf of "special needs" martial arts students.

PUI serves to educate the public on developmentally including orthopedic challenged athletes with the emphasis on their "abilities" rather than their constraints of blindness, deafness, developmental challenges, post-polio, strokes and/or amputations.

Would you think an autistic or intellectually challenged child could be taught to focus and perform the often complicated series of movements that constitute martial arts? They can. Did you ever think, the blind can learn to jump rope!

Why should a "handicapped" person learn or compete in martial arts?
The best answer... because they can!

In case you are wondering what kinds of personal challenges the students face, you will find the list endless. Those with physical challenges of cerebral palsy, spinal cord injuries, spina bifida, brain injuries and others, train in adaptive marital arts. Adapted practices even allow those in wheelchairs or walkers to learn and progress in the sport.

The commitment, diligence, concentration and challenge of learning martial arts changes who a person is. Being able to learn, progress and accomplish goals creates confidence and increased self-esteem in all humans.

One of the greatest fears adults admit to, is of getting up in front of a crowd to speak. Martial arts students become accustomed to being in front of people and being evaluated, and are proud to exhibit their skills. No stage fright for these kids! (Kids is merely as expression, since students range from 4-5 years old to mature adults.)
